  • Executive Power

    What I Believe:

Good government means power is held by the people, not one person, regardless of who that person is.

No mayor or city council member should ever attempt to singlehandedly manage our city government.

Good leaders trust their community, their staff, and common sense in their decision making.

    What I Will Do:

As your city councilman, I will actively listen to, lean on, and trust my neighbors, community members, colleagues, department heads, and city staff.

I will never put self interest over the interests of our community.

I will work with other city council members and city leaders to ensure that no one person’s ambitions will shape our city’s future regardless of who is elected as mayor or to the city council in the future.

I will work with and on behalf of the citizens of Mountain Home to help them determine their future for themselves.

  • Water & Wastewater

    What I Believe:

Water is the lifeblood of our community, and our county as a whole. I am a planner, I strongly believe that smart planning in the front end will set up our next generation for success.

    What I Will Do:

As your city councilman, I will repair broken relationships at the city, county, state, and federal level to ensure that we are part of the planning conversations.

I will be a voice for the current and future needs of our community.

I will ensure that future growth will be contingent on responsible water planning.

I will protect our water quality and safety and plan ahead instead of kicking the can down the road on wastewater projects.

You will find me consistently contacting our other elected officials fighting for Mountain Home’s water access by attending meetings, participating in negotiations, and testifying before our state legislature.

I will work with members of our planning and zoning committee to discuss future developments and their relationship with water usage and discuss the potential benefit of impact fees for future water projects.

I will vote against any development that endangers our community’s access to safe drinking water, ground water, and long-term health of our water systems.

I will ensure the city takes steps to educate the community on water preservation through social media campaigns, website information, and more.

I will also explore the possibility of subsidizing water utility costs for homeowners who implement water saving technologies/practices on their property.

  • Community Collaboration & Supporting Local Business

    What I Believe:

Nobody is more committed to this community than those who live here.

As a result, nobody is more qualified to tackle our community’s issues than our friends and neighbors.

Our community is full of well-equipped and talented local business owners, community groups with unique skillsets, and hard working individuals who know how to solve problems.

    What I Will Do:

I will connect local leaders, groups, contractors, and more to help tackle our most pressing issues.

I will fight to ensure that local contractors receive priority access in the bidding process for city projects.

I will maintain and grow existing relationships with the Mountain Home Air Force Base.

I will invite local civic groups, mental health groups, churches, and more to the table when the city faces tough decisions.

I will consult these groups before making decisions, and find ways to collaborate with them for city projects, activities, and more.

I will encourage the city to collaborate on communications with the chamber of commerce and other groups to provide information regarding local business openings, events, and more.

  • Growth & Affordable Housing

    What I Believe:

Our community is growing, this is inevitable, but we can do more than sit on our hands and let it grow uncontrolled.

Private property rights must be upheld, but that doesn’t mean we have to sit idly by when ill-intentioned developers and developments roll into our town.

Growth needs to provide for those who already live here, and have lived here for generations, not just those from out of state or out of the city who can afford to buy up land and raise housing prices.

    What I Will Do:

I will review impact fees, and ensure that they are revisited often to ensure that developers contribute to the city in which they build their projects.

I will ensure that local contractors are prioritized in the bidding process for city projects.

I will ensure that projects aren’t rushed just for the sake of growth—my great grandfather taught me that nothing important and worthwhile is done fast.

I will ensure that new multi-family dwelling projects benefit working families in our community.

I will continue to inspect and monitor the city’s planning and zoning code to ensure that development cannot outpace our laws.

  • Mental Health

    What I Believe:

Some think it's better if local government doesn't get involved in tackling its community's mental health challenges simply because it's "not our role" or "it's too complicated".

    I DISAGREE.

It is our responsibility to provide the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

We are a community proudly comprised largely of veterans and youth, two groups who face particularly strong mental health challenges.

We must do more to connect ALL of our community members to the resources they need to prevent declining mental health, self harm, and suicide.

    What I Will Do:

I will work with, and provide a platform for, existing local groups such as the SHARE group to open the dialogue around mental health education in our communities.

I will work with local entities such as the MHPD and Elmore County Sheriff's Office to provide information and host workshops regarding safe gun storage and prescription medication disposal.

I will engage with the most vulnerable members in our community, youth and veterans, and collaborate with local groups to inform, educate, and address our growing mental health crisis in our district's schools and at workshops in our American Legion Halls.

    Inaction is not an option.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, it's crucial to seek help. In a crisis, call or text 988 to connect with the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, which offers 24/7 support. For general mental health support, resources are available online from organizations like the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and SAMHSA.

  • Schools & Youth

    What I Believe:

Our youth are the future of our community.

Our youth deserve to grow up in a place where they have the opportunity to grow, get a good job, and raise a family of their own.

Our youth deserve both educational and recreational opportunities.

We have a youth mental health crisis.

    What I Will Do:

I will work with our teachers and parents, empowering them to acquire the resources they need in order to support our youth in the education sector.

I will support all of our schools, private, charter, and public to ensure that our youth are supported by the city in meeting social and educational standards.

I will work with the district superintendent on a regular basis to learn about the evolving needs our students are facing in the classroom.

I will lobby for additional counseling services available to students of all ages.

  • Accessibility

    What I know:

We live in a community where transportation is essential to livelihood. There is no excuse to have pathways that are crumbling so badly they are impassable for people in wheelchairs, with walkers, or even for children biking.

This is an essential service, the most essential service. No person living in Mountain Home should have to be concerned about the safety as a result of the quality of our streets.

    What I Will Do:

I will not back down from the Idaho Department of Transportation regarding crosswalk safety and sidewalk repair on American Legion Blvd. I will fight for Mountain Home to be a priority, not an afterthought.

I will work with city staff and community members to assess, determine, and prioritize needs.

I will work to provide additional handicap accessible parking in the growing downtown block.

  • Emergency Services/Public Safety

    What I Believe:

There is no more fundamental purpose that local government should serve than providing safety to our community.

Our first responders deserve competitive pay, reasonable hours, modern and efficient equipment, and support and consistency from elected officials.

Our first responders deserve access to quality mental health care.

    What I Will Do:

I will work with not only the leadership of our fire and police departments, but the officers and volunteer firefighters from bottom to top.

I will eagerly listen to the needs of our departments while ensuring we spend responsibly and treat equipment, tools, and apparatus with respect and care to extend their lifespan.

I will encourage and support our police department to engage in community-focused policing, and ensuring they are equipped to attend local events, and patrol foot routes where they will have the opportunity to interact with our citizens.

I will assist city staff in seeking out grant opportunities to help fund new gear for our fire and police departments.

I will personally explore options for in-house mental health support for our officers and firefighters, because we must take care of those who take care of us.

I will ensure that there is cooperation between our agencies and other local emergency service entities by directly contacting leaders of agencies we are partnered with.

  • Public Lands/Parks

    What I Believe:

Our public lands and parks are core to our identity as Idahoans.

Without parks, public lands, and other open spaces, Idaho, Mountain Home, and our surrounding areas wouldn’t be the same.

    What I Will Do:

I will fight to ensure that as our city continues to grow, we set aside space for additional city-managed parks.

I will protect our existing city parks and open spaces from encroachments and easements from new development.

I will work to ensure that park information is added to the city website, including the amenities, size, and (if applicable) reservation cost of each city park.

I will defend the city and areas around the city from any development that could harm our public lands, environment, or future water projects.

  • Relationships with County and State

    What I Believe:

A good government should work for the people who fund it.

Personal attacks, drama, and childish antics are not what voters signed up for.

We must put an end to long-held feuds, and local governments refusing to work together.

    What I Will Do:

I will work with agencies, the county, the state, and the federal government to save our citizens money, and to strengthen Mountain Home’s standing.

I will reach out to our county commissioners, and work with everyone that impacts the life of our residents, not just the people I agree with.

I will fight for you in the statehouse, testifying before our legislators to defend Mountain Home’s interests.

I will persistently contact agencies like the Idaho Transportation Department when issues arise on our state-owned streets.

I will work to unify the city and the county so that we can leave the antics in the rearview, and get to work on teaming up to tackle issues like reclaiming access to water from Anderson Reservoir from Ada County.
